  fresh orange juice

  cheesecloth

In a cheesecloth put the cloves, cinnamon, star anise, and cardamom pods. Tie with kitchen twine.

Put the wine, brandy, and orange juice in a large pot. Add spice bag.

Heat on low to medium. Don't let the mixture boil. Heat for 20 to 25 minutes.

Remove spice bag and discard.

This can be made in a slow cooker.

NOTES : Use a wine like Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, or Merlot.
