Molasses Cookies

3/4   cup   unsalted butter
1   cup   dark brown sugar -- packed
1/3   cup   molasses
2   cups   all-purpose flour
2   teaspoons   baking soda
1   teaspoon   cinnamon
1/2   teaspoon   ground cloves
1/2   teaspoon   ground ginger
1/8   teaspoon   salt
1/2   teaspoon   allspice
1/2  teaspoon   nutmeg
1/4   cup   sugar
1   whole   egg
Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy.

Add egg and molasses and mix well.

Sift dry ingredients together.

Mix dry ingredients into wet. Chill dough for 3 hours or as long as overnight.

Heat oven to 375F.

Form dough into walnut size balls. Roll in the sugar and place on greased cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
