Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray an 8 inch square pan. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating completely after each addition. Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves together. Alternate between dry ingredients and applesauce. Mix thorough. Add raisins and nuts and mix thoroughly. Bake for around 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes clean. NOTES : You can frost the cake with a simple glaze or cream cheese frosting or even a sprinkle of confectioner's sugar.
