Potatoes au Gratin

  Yukon Gold potatoes -- sliced 1/8-inch thick

  garlic -- minced fine

  heavy cream

  unsalted butter -- divided

Heat oven to 350°F.

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a sauce pan and add garlic. Cook for 1 minute.

Add salt, pepper, nutmeg, and cream and cook until warmed through.

Butter 1 quart casserole dish with remaining butter. Layer potatoes in dish and cover with cream.

Bake covered for 1 hour.

Remove cover and bake for 30 minutes or until potatoes are cooked through.
