Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Lightly beat the egg with the buttermilk and green onions. Add wet ingredients to dry and mix just until combined. Heat oil to 375°F. Drop batter by teaspoonful into oil. Fry 2 to 2 1/2 minutes or until golden. Drain on paper towels. Notes: You can use buttermilk powder. Use 3/4 cup water and 3 tablespoons of powder. Makes 6 servings |
