Giggles Double Chocolate Cherry Cookies

1   cup   unsalted butter -- softened
1/2   cup   granulated sugar
1   cup   dark brown sugar -- packed
1   teaspoon   vanilla extract -- pure
2   large   eggs
1/2   teaspoon   salt
1   teaspoon   baking soda
3/4   cup   cocoa powder
2   cups   all-purpose flour
12   ounces   semisweet chocolate chips -- mini
5   ounces   dried cherries -- diced
1/2   cup   port wine
Heat oven to 350°F.

Soak cherries in wine and set aside.

Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, and extract until light and fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time and beating until thoroughly mixed each time.

Add salt, baking soda, cocoa powder, and flour and beat until mixed.

Drain cherries and add along with chocolate chips until mixed well.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake 8-9 Minutes.

Cool on a wire rack.
