Bring a pot of water to boil. Reduce to low and cook hot dog for five minutes or until done. Put a steamer basket in water and heat buns 2 minutes or until warm. Put hot dog in bun. This is the correct order for the toppings for a true Chicago hot dog. Mustard Pickle relish Onion Tomato wedges Dill pickle spear Sports pepper Celery salt. NOTES : A true Chicago hot dog has a bright neon green relish that you can find on line. The hot dog must be all beef and have a casing which gives the hot dog its snap. Vienna makes the hot dogs, green relish, and sports peppers. After living in Chicago I can tell you they are as fanatical about their hot dogs as they are about their Cubs. Makes 1 Servings. |
